Photos shouldn’t be stressful, but I understand the pressure. We all strive to look our best, ensure our kids behave perfectly, and flash flawless smiles in our pictures. However, let's be realistic – achieving absolute perfection is unlikely, and that's perfectly fine and often encouraged.
I'll offer thorough advice on outfit choices tailored to reflect your personality, complement the surroundings, and photograph well. Additionally, my extensive client closet is at your disposal, saving you time, stress, and money by eliminating the need to purchase new clothing.
Typically I begin a session with a few traditional poses while the kids are fully engaged, before transitioning to more relaxed and authentic moments. Throughout the session I'll gently guide you as needed, prompting playful interactions with your children, tender embraces, and embracing any emotional moments, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere that captures genuine connections and emotions in your photos.

Thank you for considering a newborn session with Captured by Kelsey Photography. Typically, these sessions are booked well in advance based on your due date to ensure availability once the baby arrives. Studio photos are done during the first few weeks of life, while babies are still very sleepy and mouldable (just like they are in the womb), making it an ideal time for capturing precious little details.
The safety and comfort of your baby is always a top priority. With 12 years of experience photographing hundreds of newborns, I understand the importance of following the baby's lead while posing. Each baby is unique, and not all babies will tolerate every position, and that's perfectly okay. I am fully prepared to adapt to baby’s comfort while still being able to deliver a variety of images.
Before your session, I will provide you with detailed instructions on how to best prepare for the session. Theres lots of things you can do to help baby remain asleep and happy, ultimately leading to a successful and enjoyable session.
Newborn sessions are a labor of love and typically last 2-3 hours. The studio is designed to be warm, quiet, and comfortable. When handling a sleeping baby, I move ever so slowly to ensure their comfort and safety. During the session I encourage you to relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, and catch up on some much needed rest while I work my magic.

Have your cake and eat it too!
These days can be incredibly busy and overwhelming, which is why I take care of all the preparation and planning. I believe in tailoring every cake smash session to perfectly reflect your baby's unique personality and your individual style. No need to worry about shopping either, I have plenty of outfits to choose from so you can skip the added stress of searching for the perfect piece.
Included in each session is a delicious and beautifully customized cake that perfectly coordinates and compliments the style of the session. Although the sessions are filled with lighthearted fun, it's not uncommon for some babies to take a little time to warm up to the idea of diving into the cake. To ensure your baby's comfort, I recommend that parents bring along their little one's favorite dry snack. Truth be told, there are instances where the babies may not consume much cake at all, but with a few clever tricks and some tasty and familiar snacks, you'd never know from the resulting photos.
Following the cake smash, I take care of clean up with a fun bubble bath, often resulting in beaming, joyful smiles, and an opportunity to capture more priceless moments of this milestone.
